"Angie's Heavenly Chocolate Cake"
½ lb. butter
1½ cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
6 tablespoons baking cocoa
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
Cream butter to soften. Gradually add sugar, creaming until sugar is dissolved. Add three eggs one at a time, add vanilla, and continue adding eggs beating after each addition. Blend in cocoa.
Mix flour baking powder and salt together, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk beating after each addition.
Fill two (2) 8" layer pans.
Bake in oven at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour.
When cooled decorate with chocolate frosting or chocolate icing. (Recipe Included)
4 oz. Cocoa
8 oz. Confectioners sugar
3-4 tablespoons boiling water
Blend sieved confectioner's sugar with cocoa. Mix well with water until smooth. Spread evenly over cake.
